“The very friendly tour guide gave interesting information about Crète and the the region while going to and coming back from the Samaria Gorge. The hike was beautiful and pleasant (took us about 3.5 hours) and we were happy to not be stuck with the group and be allowed to go at our own pace. The rocks are very slippery so you will want to bring shoes or boots with good adherence and stability. We departed from Malia at 5h00 and came back at 22h30. Props to our bus driver who made us feel safe during the whole trip even with the winding and steep roads.”

“Our guide was great - friendly, informative. Eight adults (with backpacks) was excruciatingly uncomfortable in one jeep. Stuffed in the back - half if us couldnt even look out the window. Beach was great but its a LONG time to be crammed into a hot jeep (no air conditioning) for a 45 min swim. Lunch was ok.”

The gorge itself was absolutely beautiful, and the early start was great, as it felt cool when the trail began, with lots of shade for the first half, but became quite hot by the end. “The smell of the trees, the clarity of the river, and just the beauty of it all. The hike took us about five and half hours. Definitely have shoes that provide ankle support. We also were hiking at a pretty good pace, but didn’t make it down to the beach in time to go swimming.
