“The very friendly tour guide gave interesting information about Crète and the the region while going to and coming back from the Samaria Gorge. The hike was beautiful and pleasant (took us about 3.5 hours) and we were happy to not be stuck with the group and be allowed to go at our own pace. The rocks are very slippery so you will want to bring shoes or boots with good adherence and stability. We departed from Malia at 5h00 and came back at 22h30. Props to our bus driver who made us feel safe during the whole trip even with the winding and steep roads.”

“Our guide was great - friendly, informative. Eight adults (with backpacks) was excruciatingly uncomfortable in one jeep. Stuffed in the back - half if us couldnt even look out the window. Beach was great but its a LONG time to be crammed into a hot jeep (no air conditioning) for a 45 min swim. Lunch was ok.”

“This made for a very long day, but was so, so worth it! The gorge itself was absolutely beautiful, and the early start was great, as it felt cool when the trail began, with lots of shade for the first half, but became quite hot by the end. The beautiful flowers, wild thyme, rugged rock, clear water, and little wooden bridges were breathtaking at every turn. The terrain definitely tests your ankles, and once you are out of the gorge itself, there is still a 2 km walk to the beach. However, we were very glad to have done it. “The smell of the trees, the clarity of the river, and just the beauty of it all. The hike took us about five and half hours. Definitely have shoes that provide ankle support. We also were hiking at a pretty good pace, but didn’t make it down to the beach in time to go swimming. We had about 30 minutes before the boat was going to leave and decided we better get some food, because once on the boat, then it was get on the bus. The hotel restaurant closes at 9:30 and we wouldn’t get back until 10. wish we could have had maybe another 30 minutes so we…”

“De Samaraikloof moet op je bucketlist staan, maar je moet in zeer goede conditie zijn! Als 65j sport ik nog min.4/w, maar je knieën en voeten moeten in optimale conditie zijn! Het is van in het begin tot het einde springen van steen tot steen, met het risico om bij elke pas je voet om te slaan! Maar de kloof zelf is een wonder der natuur! De prijs echter is bij GYG veel te hoog. In Agia Galini betaal je slechts 55€, transport inbegrepen! Dus om nogmaals met GYG te boeken, zal ik beter uitkijken! Een andere activiteit(zeilboot met snorkelen was ook 90€, waar ter plaatse het slechts 50-60€ is!”
